Irish Coffee
Prep Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Freshly Brewed Coffee
  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 1/2 oz High Quality Irish Whiskey
  • 1 pinch Ground Cinnamon Or Nutmeg For Garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Brew the coffee
Be sure you use a high quality bean.
  • Add The Sugar
Put the sugar in the mug (you want to choose a traditional Irish glass vessel if possible or at least, a glass mug to not affect the final taste), and pour in the coffee stirring continuously till the sugar is fully dissolved into the coffee.
  • Add The Whiskey
Pour the whiskey into the sugar coffee mix and stir. Quality is key here so an Irish whiskey for an Irish coffee recipe would be most appropriate. There is nothing better than Irish cream coffee recipes than those made using authentic ingredients.
  • Whip The Cream
Lightly whip the chilled cream, this will go quicker if you use an electric whisk and a chilled jug. Be sure not to over whip it, you ideally want it to be a slow pour over the back of a spoon onto the coffee layer, floating on top and not mixing in. If it has become too stiff fold in a spoon of liquid cream to loosen the mix.
  • Garnish And Serve
Youcan serve it as is but to take it one step further and essentially make it a professional-looking drink we find in coffee houses or restaurants, finely grate some nutmeg over the top or sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon for a touch of spice.
